High Structure Renewable Assignments: A Design Study

We seek to guide design, development, and adoption of Renewable Assignments by testing ways learners can contribute Open Educational Resources (OER). test, iterate four assignment structures this end. Testing was completed in an upper-division undergraduate endocrinology course, taught emergency remote due COVID-19. Using mixed methods: surveys, focus groups, iterations, we assessed created design guidance for renewable assignments open pedagogy. find that a these were effective advancing learning goals. Both students teachers favored their inclusion the course. Analysis revealed six principles maximize effectiveness courses, empowering knowledge. These also provide insight praxis related theories pedagogy, scaffolding, peer interaction, active learning.
